Summary of our Constitution's Doctrine
-
This church receives the Bible, God's Word, as an all-sufficient basis of doctrine and practice.
-
We believe that by the Spirit of God we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior.
-
We solemnly and joyfully agree to enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
-
We engage by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort.
-
We strive to spread the gospel through all nations.
-
We engage to maintain family and secret devotions. We believe we should religiously educate our children. We should avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger.
-
We also believe to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicated drink as a beverage.
-
We engage to watch over one another in brotherly love by remembering each other in prayer and helping one another in sickness and distress.
-
We engage that, when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church, to carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
A Brief History of Our Church
Our church began to meet in 1926 and was originally known as Belmont Baptist Church.
The cornerstone of our current building was laid on August 12, 1951. From 1926 to 1989, our church was affiliated with the American Baptist Convention. On June 15, 1989, the members of our church voted to become an Independent Baptist Church.
